What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an advanced dermal filler that uses Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) to naturally stimulate your skin’s collagen production. Unlike traditional fillers, Sculptra gradually restores facial volume and smooths wrinkles over time. This innovative treatment provides long-lasting, natural-looking results, with improvements continuing to develop for several months and lasting up to two years or more. How does it work?

Unlike other dermal fillers that use hyaluronic acid, Sculptra is biocompatible and stimulates the skin's natural collagen production. As people age and are exposed to the sun, collagen production decreases. Wrinkles are the first sign of reduced collagen. Sculptra uses tiny beads of PLLA to increase volume and smoothen out wrinkles. As the beads biodegrade in the body, the body starts to build collagen where the beads previously were injected.

Who is a candidate for Sculptra?

Healthy individuals who are aging, experiencing facial volume loss, and want a rejuvenating result are good candidates for Sculptra.

How long does it last?

Based on clinical studies, Sculptra has been shown to last up to 25 months! Results are dependent on the amount of product used as well as the initial contour irregularity.

How much Sculptra do I need?

Your aesthetic provider will be able to give a full evaluation and treatment. Since collagen stimulates the bodys’ collagen production, it will take a full 3-4 months to see the full result. Patients will typically need 3 sessions (each session about 4 weeks apart) for the best results. After the initial 3 treatments, it is recommended to follow up with your provider in 6 months if additional treatment is needed.

PRE-TREATMENT PREPARATION FOR SCULPTRA

To ensure the best results from your Sculptra treatment, consider the following preparations:

Avoid Blood Thinners: Refrain from using blood thinners, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least one week prior to your appointment to minimize the risk of bruising.
Limit Alcohol: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment, as it can increase the risk of swelling and bruising.
Consult with Your Provider: Discuss any medications or supplements you’re taking with your provider, as some may need to be adjusted.
Hydrate and Rest: Drink plenty of water and ensure you are well-rested before your appointment to support the best possible outcomes.
Skin Care: Follow any specific skincare instructions provided by your provider, including avoiding exfoliating or irritating products.

By following these guidelines, you can help ensure a smooth and effective Sculptra treatment.

After a Sculptra treatment, you can expect the following:

Initial Effects: You might experience some redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which are typically mild and subside within a few days.
Gradual Results: Unlike immediate fillers, Sculptra’s effects develop gradually as it stimulates collagen production. Full results usually become noticeable over several months.
Improved Volume: As new collagen forms, you’ll see gradual improvements in facial volume and skin texture, leading to a more youthful and natural-looking appearance.
Longevity: Results from Sculptra can last up to two years or more, depending on individual factors and treatment areas.
Post-Treatment Care: Follow any specific aftercare instructions from our practitioner, such as avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure for a short period to ensure optimal results.

How Many Sculptra Sessions Are Needed?

Most patients require 1 to 3 Sculptra sessions to achieve optimal results. Sessions are usually spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number needed will depend on your specific goals and the areas being treated. During your consultation, we will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
