Masseter Reduction / V‑Line Slimming

The masseter is one of four muscles that assists with chewing. It is a rectangular shaped muscle located on the side of the face and attaches to both the cheekbone and jaw. Injecting a neuromodulator into this muscle causes temporary weakness, causing it to become smaller. Injecting a neuromodulator to the masseters can help you achieve a slimming effect and alleviate jaw pain from teeth grinding or clenching. Our patients tell us their sleep quality has improved significantly after their injections!

In addition to helping alleviate jaw tension, masseter reduction has become an increasingly popular treatment to achieve a slimmer, “V-line” face. Especially popular in Asian plastic surgery, “V-line” lower face shape is associated with a more feminine and softer aesthetic look. Enlarged masseters can contribute to a more square or rounded jawline which can appear more masculine. Masseter reduction can result in a balancing face shape, contouring of the lower jaw, and reduce any jaw clenching and pain- all with no surgery. How long will it take to see results?

Most patients will notice relief in their jaw tension about 2 weeks after the appointment. For a full slimming effect, patients will need to wait a full 8 weeks for the maximum effect. Keep in mind that everyone responds very differently to the procedure, with some responding faster or slower than others, and proper candidacy is needed to ensure good results.

How long do results last?

This depends on the units used, size of muscle, the purpose of the treatment, and the individuals’ metabolism. For teeth grinders - this treatment may last 3-4 months. For jaw slimming - this treatment may last up to 6 months. The results will vary per individual.

Who is a good candidate?

This place is absolutely amazing!
